Hello, my name is Rachel Losch, and I am the visual art specialist at Dixie Magnet Elementary school. I enjoy teaching the arts and humanities at Dixie, and I especially enjoy teaching my Dixie Dolphins about life through the arts and humanities.
I was born in Abingdon, Virginia and was raised in Wytheville, Virginia. I attended George Wythe High School before I began my college career at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. I obtained my B.A in Liberal Arts and my M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction in Art Education. After teaching at Bearden High School as an intern for one year, I was recruited to Nashville, Tennessee. I taught for eleven years at McGavock Elementary and split schools with Glengarry Elementary for three years. In 2005, I moved to Lexington and taught at Northern Elementary for three years before I came to Dixie Magnet Elementary School in 2008.
I enjoy painting, sculpture, singing, drama and, of course, creating art. I am married to Dr. Breton Losch and have two sons and a cat named Cleo. My favorite pieces of art are the ones that my boys created in Kindergarten!
